QB: Jacoby Brissett --- in full command of the offense. Superb execution, 135.9 RTG.

RB: Emari Demercado --- that screen pass TD run to the house was a Rembrandt.

TE: Travis Vokolek --- dude is a premier blocker and underrated receiver.

WR: Xavier Weaver --- should be WR3 and starting kickoff returner.

T: Christian Jones --- much improved in one year at left tackle.

G: Isaiah Adams --- big, high effort blocks on first, second and third levels.

C: Hjalte Froholdt --- he is the tone setter for Drew Petzing's offense.

DT: Dante Stills --- picking right up on his prolific pass rushing prowess.

DE: Jordan Burch --- has total package of size, strength, burst and agility.

LB: Cody Simon --- was only ILB who flashed in run support.

CB: Darren Hall --- played the Garrett Williams hybrid CB/S role to perfection.

S: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson and Jammie Robinson --- best, hardest hitting tacklers.

KR: Andre Baccellia --- 1 return or 29 yards, highest average.

PR: Xavier Weaver --- 1 return for 18 yards, highest average.

LB: Aaron Brewer --- money.

K: Chad Ryland --- money.

P; Blake Gillikin --- money.

  1. Pre-season game so nothing too strenuous about the game itself. I only watched 1st half...

    - Still questioning KM game (no surprise) - the interception was a reminder of Kylers comment - I have no issue with accuracy - give me a break nobody but Def player within 5 yards. Inexcusable if regular season game tolerable in preseason game 1...

Def Game Ball(s) - Burch, DTD, Hall
Def bubble watch - Stills, Burch, Hall all had nice games and showed well
Def catfish - Ojulari (no disruptive plays, fighting off blocks against bigger dudes); Pappoe (looked like he was a step behind on every play)

OFF Game Ball(s) - Weaver, Brisset; Demarcado; O-line
OFF Bubble watch - Weaver outperformed Palmer & Dortch (Dortch had nice WR sweep play)
    OFF Catfish - Murray (interception was inexcusable but what we've grown used to);

    ST - Pre-seson fumblitis

    1. Pretty spot on first half assessment. I turned it off at halftime as well. I was hyped up and critical but finally figured out I was watching the first preseason game.

That int by Murray was like he thought the DB was the WR. It was an accurate throw if the DB was on the Cardinals. That one didnt make sense as he was rolling left and didnt seem to be under pressure. Literally just threw it to the wrong team. I wonder if there is more to this than is being reported. That's a mistake I see a kid making in his first season in pop Warner. Not an NFL QB.

    2. Not impressed with the overall play of the team in a meaningless preseason game. This is why you play your staters in preseason. Lots to fix. D starters were on the field when a back up journeyman QB carved them up. The offensive play calling looked solid and execution was good, maybe because of continuity.
Cards got a real gift playing one of the worst ranked teams in the league in their opener on the road. Hope they take advantage.

    3. To be fair our DL wasn't starters - CC, Tomlinson, Robinson, Sweat, and Nolan (PUP) all were all on sideline.

    4. That’s important Redrun but Minchew carved up the D with most of our D starters were still playing . Young CB group that will improve . Good to see rotational guys like Stills and Burch play well.

  2. If what Murray said is true and he doesn’t have any reps in camp at full speed rolling out then JG and whatever yes man we’ve got at qb coach have definitely dropped a major ball. Not incessantly drilling and then fine tuning Murray and this offense to make them demonstrably more capable converting by passing the ball in the red zone is unforgivable negligence.

    1. Murray can't complain about his position coach because he doesn't have one nor thinks he needs one. It shows and it will mean the end of Murray and maybe a chunk of the staff and they will deserve that.
Interestingly and probably insignificant is the poor play of our ST with the most experienced, somewhat successful, coach we have on staff. I'm not concerned about the fumbles but allowing the Chiefs to start on the 40 on a kick return is another sign that our ST are not yet special.

  3. Overall things after I watched game today was how much better tackling looked especially from our defensive backs. Some second year players are really coming into their own. Trey Benson Tip Reiman and Darren Hall all contributed today. Some of our rookies are probably going to make final cuts interesting. I don't see how Denzel Burke Jordan Burch don't make active roster. First couple series had some errors but it better to get the rust knocked off now. Biggest change seems to be the depth and quality we have in weapons right now. Final cuts are going to have some surprises.
