Cardinals' 53 Man Roster Projection V. 2.0
by Walter Mitchell
53 Man Roster V. 1.0
QB (2): Kyler Murray, Jacoby Brissett
RB (3): James Conner, Trey Benson, Emari Demercado
TE (3): Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins, Tip Reiman
WR (6): Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., Greg Dortch, Xavier Weaver, Zay Jones, Simi Fehoko
OL (9): Paris Johnson Jr., Evan Brown, Hjalte Froholdt, Isaiah Adams, Jonah Williams, Kelvin Beachum, Jon Gaines II, Will Hernandez, Josh Fryar
DI (6): Calais Campbell, Dalvin Tomlinson, Darius Robinson, Dante Stills, Walter Nolen III, Elijah Simmons
ED (5): Zaven Collins, Josh Sweat, Baron Browning, Jordan Burch, Xavier Thomas
ILB (5): Mack Wilson Sr., Owen Pappoe, Cody Simon, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Mykal Walker
CB (6): Garrett Williams, Max Melton, Will Johnson, Denzel Burke, Elijah Jones, Darren Hall
S (5): Budda Baker, Jalen Thompson, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, Joey Blount, Kitan Crawford
ST (3): Aaron Brewer, Chad Ryland, Blake Gillikin
Changes from V 1.0:
IN: WR Simi Fehoko, Jon Gaines II (both back from injuries)
OUT: TE Travis Vokolek, C/G Hayden Conner (fearing an ACL)
Q&As:
1. Why only 3 RBs? Because the Cardinals can keep Michael Carter and DeeJay Dallas on the PS, as neither of them will be claimed off waivers. They can be promoted to the active game list when needed.
2. Why 6 WRs? Dortch, Weaver and Fehoko have key STs roles.
3. Why only 9 OL? Cards can stash 3 on the PS. None of whom would be claimed off waivers.
4. Toughest cut: CB Kei'Trel Clark who has been a step too late in coverage thus far. CB Elijah Jones has 6 tackles last night including the strip fumble at the goal-line and he's been very solid in coverage.
5. Super sleeper who is gaining ground: DT P.J. Mustipher who had 6 tackles and 2 TFLs last night.
Your assessments and questions?
If Walter Nolen does end up on the PUP list or go on IR, then maybe that adds in one more roster spot for the defense to add (at least for the first month of the season)
ReplyDeleteSame for Hernandez too - I am guessing both start on PUP out 1st 4 weeks. leaving two open roster positions.
DeleteWalter:
ReplyDeleteYou left off your guys who you project to start on IR/PUP and PS projections....I like to see those in pre-season if for no other reason than it allows us to watch the bubble (players of interest)...
Here are my guesses...
IR/PUP: Nichols, Ojulari, Hernandez, Nolen, J Jones
PS:
QB: after the 1st two pre-season duds by Tune, it might be time to consider picking up a new QB3.
RB: Dallas, Carter
OL: C Jones, Haynesworth
TE: Vokolek
WR: Palmer
DT: Mustipher, Collier
ED:
ILB:
CB: Clark
S:
1. Add Christian Jones to the roster (pending health), move Josh Fryar to the PS, I believe he has the most guaranteed money of all UFA's, don't think he'd get claimed.
ReplyDelete2. Add DeeJay Dallas to the active roster, coaching staff called him a war daddy, I just don't think he gets released. Too many WR's for this offense, I like your WR room, I just can't figure out who to release from that room to make room for RB4.
3. After last night's performance, not only do I KNOW Tune will clear the waiver wire, I'm not sure he gets brought back to the practice squad.
Gotta think Mustipher earned a close look and E Simmons might be in trouble in this battle.
ReplyDeleteSimon gonna jump Pappoe on the depth sooner than later.
Jammie Robinson, led the team in tackles against the Broncos, is making a strong case for a roster spot.
D Hall shoulda made that interception!
