Cardinals Fans and Pundits still Tanking for Marv?

Have you seen anything like this utter obsession of Cardinals' fans and pundits to TANK FOR MARV?

The 2025 Cardinals are 2-0 coming off their 27-22 win over one of their arch-nemeses, the Carolina Panthers --- and yet?

The PHNX two-year smear campaign to get Drew Petzing fired remains as heated as the Mohave desert.

Note: it doesn't matter that Kyler Murray has repeatedly said that he has never felt more prepared for games by a coach than how Drew Petzing is preparing him and the offense.

Yet, the heck with that. After all, what a shitty play design and play call this was by Drew Petzing:

Or how about this crap call?

https://x.com/i/status/1967612600113639663

Or this absurd usage of Marv?

How dare Drew Petzing  focus his game plan around trying to exploit the worst pass defenders on the Panthers:

Context: Pro Bowl CB Jaycee Horn was often assigned to Marv. Horn gave up 1 reception on 2 targets for 7 yards. Petzing rightfully focused on exploiting S Moehrig, LBs Rozeboom and LB Wallace who gave up 10 receptions on 10 targets for 142 yards (14.2 avg.). Why risk targeting Horn when there were stronger options? On Michael Wilson's skinny post TD, they targeted SCB Smith-Wade. This part of the game plan was smart.

Kyler understands this.

But, hey, sure is tough to watch Cardinals go 2-0 only to have other guys like Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins and Michael Wilson have good games.

The Good: The Arizona Cardinals are 2-0. The Bad: It's been a tough watch with this offense. At what point should concern be raised about the usage of Marvin Harrison Jr.? Are we right back to last year's issues?

I think Marvin Harrison Jr. got drafted to the worst situation possible. He isn’t a bust, he just doesn’t fit well with the current scheme. He should request a trade soon if things don’t improve in Arizona. He will be special just needs a fair opportunity !!!!!!

Drew Petzing is the best Defensive coordinator in the NFL

We need to be freed from Drew Petzing

@SleeperNFL
what the Cardinals are doing with Marvin Harrison Jr. is organizational malpractice

Drew Petzing is the worst playcaller in the NFL.

Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers in week 2 had more yards than the ENTIRE Arizona Cardinals WR core in Week 1 and 2 COMBINED.

Fire Drew Petzing. He has had 3 years and the offense hasnt developed at all. It's that simple.

One thing Gannon has failed at is continuing having Drew Petzing as his OC. Nothing has changed in 3 years and you have a generational athlete at QB, the most insane WR prospect out of the last 5 years and an all pro level tight end that you refuse to feature or get the ball to in crunch time. If this keeps up Petzing will be the reason why we miss the playoffs

How dare Drew Petzing game plan well enough to win a game over a team the Cardinals hardly ever beat and let this happen?

Cardinals top PFF graded players yesterday: Offense: -Elijah Higgins -Kyler Murray -Michael Wilson

Oh, the irony?

Last season the Cardinals' offensive rankings:

* Overall --- 11th
* Rushing --- 7th
* Passing --- 18th

This season after two games:

* Passing --- 10th
* Receiving --- 9th
* Pass Blocking --- 3rd

But hey, what do any of these rankings matter when Marv has a bad game or isn't the number one focus of the offense, right? Who could give two craps about anyone else?

Drew Petzing still fn sucks by the way, never was qualified to be an OC in the NFL, has been nothing but a loser and shit coach everywhere he’s been and that won’t change here

Cardinals' fans and PHNX pundits still tanking for Marv?

Apparently --- anything it takes to get rid of Petzing.

  1. If I was in professional sports I would never read social media about myself. It's just vile.

  2. Does Petzing have a few issues, yes. Does he deserve to be fired or given more time? Yes.

    I've seen him try to adjust his play-calling - I think losing Klayton Adams hurt this offense more than we anticipated.

    Just a guess, those calling for Petzings' head are same who make excuses for Kylers bonehead mistakes which are apparent but somehow are everyone else's fault.

  3. If MHJ received a significant increase in targets these same people would be foaming at the mouth that we’re not giving McBride enough opportunities.

  4. Is it just me or did the offensive line seem to be struggling to create running lanes against the Panthers? Without a productive running game, Kyler's passing game will struggle. Has the O-line taken a major step back this season and has the emphasis been switched from what looked like a run first offense last season to pass first this season.

  5. I think this week was more about the implosion of the defense in the second. 4th quarter gave Card fans PTSD with us almost giving the game away. It really took away some of the good things we did in the first half. Our guard play has hampered our run game so far this year. We need Kyler to kick start the run game with his feet. Petzing needs to find a high gear for the passing for offenses that hang 30 points on teams like Green Bay.

  6. I remember you making the case in the past that both Kyler and Marv are not ideal fits for Petzing's system. That's ultimately on the front office, not Petzing.

    1. If true, Petzing needs to change his system to fit the players. That's the job of every coach and those that can't adapt their "system" to place their players in the best position to develop improve and win, are fired. Them's the rules. Was our solid running game a result of Klayton Adams coaching? Is our dismal run game since Adams left, a result of Petzing's coaching. Petzing is really smart so I would expect him to get MHJ more creative touches, fix the running game and improve the play of every offensive player. If not....

  7. My issue with Petzing is he seems to be on a stay the course tack instead of adjusting to what the defense is showing.

    By this, I mean when a d continually stacks the box and plays two high safeties, adjust your run first mentality and punish them underneath with quick throws to routes that allow yards after the catch.

    It's early in the season, but if there are no obvious signs of growth in learning as a coordinator, I would say it's time to move on.

    This also applies to Rallis and Gannon. Going prevent d in the 3rd quarter in this last contest is absolutely ridiculous. I know the CBs are hurt, but let the underlings learn the hard way. I'd rather see a corner beat with a fighting chance, than continue to watch that fiasco we just witnessed.
