Kyler either doesn't see the field very well which is causing him to look nervous and panicky or he's nervous and panicky which causes him to not see the field very well. I don't know which it is but since 2021 he's regressed. If the Cardinals move on from Kyler at the end of this season, there will probably be one desperate team that signs him and makes him win the starting QB position in pre-season and if he doesn't do well there he is done in the NFL.

ReplyDeleteThe game was very frustrating to watch on offense we looked like we we're afraid of our shadows, only to scurry back to the mole-hill. Defensively, we looked to be holding on buut again, way too much zone coverage leading to easy plays when our DL put little pressure on Jones.
Coaching - Yousa...what a fiasco. Our guys look confused and lacking of confidence (save a few of vets). Ganon deserves the hot-seat after a Seahawks loss (predicted at this point) he should feel the heat. The last series was typical of our season thus far, two running plays (basically no-gain) 3rd and long...incomplete. Wash/Rinse/Repeat...I think that Petzing has become too predictable, Defense knows what you're going to do, they can plan Defense to get the Stop! (Don't get me wrong, there is some real ingenuity to some of Petzings 'run' concepts) - Passing game overall just sucks!
Kyler - been saying it for some time. Kyler is what he is, neither great nor horrid. He has proven to be uncoachable by two regimes. His lack of development and late-season collapses means it is time to begin the search for alternatives. Brisset isn't that replacement (he like every other backup was selected so Kyler felt warm, fuzzy, & no-pressure). Bring on the competitors.
WR/Harrison - Harrison looked away on his missed catch (trying to run with ball without securing reception). I just don't like the way any of our WR look. Is it just me or do all our receivers look slow? In this game we had multiple drops, is it lack of focus? You just have to wonder what they are actually practicing. Because it sure ain't working on the field.
DL/Robinson - Through first 3-games, Robinson is looking more like a draft miss every game he has no game impact. Mustipher looking better than Robinson. CC & Tomlinson doing their part. Was hoping for a bit more production from Sweat, but he seems alright along with Burch who is growing and I'm excited to see how he does by season end with a little more experience.
RB's/Conner - It was sad to see Conner get hurt (for season?); it's time for Benson to grow into his draft potential. I believe Benson can fill Connors shoes reasonably.
CB's - I am actually pleasantly surprised at how these young guys fared, whilst not perfect they played admirably most of the game.
OL - They didn't seem to have a horrible game. You can see how they struggle to protect Kyler when Kyler (unplanned) moves outside pocket, which I think is fairly typical for most OL's with mobile QB. We really need Hernandez to hold down one of guard positions, both guards are struggling. Which I think is main issue behind run game issues.

DeleteLast year when the Cardinals did their post-bye week collapse, I thought Kyler's performance in those key games was "anti-clutch." But with the offseason to cool off, instead I started thinking of things in terms of the 2-minute drill. For most teams, having the game on the line with your QB in a 2-minute drill is exhilarating. Not every opportunity like that is going to end in a W, but ideally you would have some confidence in the offense to get it done. That simply isn't the case for Cardinals fans. We know if there's a chance to win in a 2-minute drill, we aren't going to seize that opportunity.
ReplyDeleteAs you said on the podcast, our offense had a chance to put all 3 games away late in the 4th quarter. Instead, our defense was forced to bail them out. And they were successful in 2/3 of the attempts, despite spending a lot of the 4th quarter on the field and inexplicably going into prevent defense mode.
There has been so much talk about Kyler never having had a really good defense and what that might mean. Well so far our defense has been put in the position of winning these games for the offense. And I just don't see the offense turning into a 4th quarter juggernaut anytime soon.
Walt knows a lot more about this than I do, so maybe he has better insight. But it seems to me like there were multiple plays where people were open. In some cases, wide open. However, as has always been the case, Kyler doesn't see them. Why? Because he doesn't adequately read defenses, go through his progressions, step in the pocket, and keep his eyes down field. I'm not sure about you all, but if Kyler hasn't improved by the bye, I'm fine with kicking the tires on JB.
