Red Rain Question of the Day:

What do you make of the Cardinals' grades with regard to their NFC West counterparts?

  1. What is troubling to me is how many Cards are on the upper portion of the team in terms of cap number that didn't make the list, either because of injury keeping their snap count below 350 or because of performance. Kyler, Jonah Williams, Jalen Thompson, Justin Jones, Budda, MHJ, Bilial Nichols. All of these guys have a cap number over 7.5m and aren't on the list. Combined that's around 80m in salary cap space. Johan, Jalen, Budda and MHJ all are above 350 snaps and are 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th in cap number on the team.

I'm curious which players under 350 snaps would have made the list. Garrett Williams, Will Johnson and Walter Nolen are my guesses.

    2. Grades ; OVERALL GRADE. 72.1 · 16th/41 QBs ; PASSING GRADE. 69.5 · 15th/41 QBs ; RUSHING GRADE. 71.4 · 13th/28 QBs.
Kyler Murray 2025 PFF grade. He only has 315 snaps but his performance would put him in the same category as the other 6 players. And just a side note Matt Jones is not a current starter for San Franciso.

    3. They all are 70.0+. Garrett Williams 342 snaps at 62.6.

    4. It really makes you wonder where this defense would be if Nolen and Johnson had been healthy all season. Also makes it look like Rabbit should be starting at one of the safety positions.

    5. Should be when he gets healthy I mean.

    6. When only six players on a 53-man roster have good PFF grades, the obvious conclusion is poor coaching. But the front office hasn’t helped either. Their 2024 draft class has been underwhelming across the board. Marvin Harrison Jr. hasn’t met expectations. Darius Robinson has graded out as the league’s worst interior defensive lineman among 112 players with at least 200 snaps. Max Melton has already been benched—he was the pick despite better cornerbacks being available. Trey Benson not available. Isaiah Adams has gone from bad to… still bad. Tip Reiman looks promising. Elijah Jones is MIA. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson has been solid, but Xavier Thomas, Christian Jones, Tejhaun Palmer, and Jaden Davis have all been non-factors because staff just thinks they're not good enough.
In short, “underwhelming” is putting it kindly. And it’s not just the early picks—none of the four third-rounders have established themselves either. These aren’t the types of players who accelerate a rebuild.
Maybe MO partially redeemed himself with the 2025 selections of Nolan and Will Johnson, but even that comes with concern considering Johnson’s injury history, which may well be his injury present and future.
Low PFF scores tell the story.

  2. Right now, only two games separate the Number 1 overall pick in the NFL draft and the #8 spot. We have the toughest schedule remaining. More talent wasted waiting for a coaching staff still learning on the job?
