  1. I like Harbough but it's never going to happen. I saw this on youtube.

    1. Coach Harbaugh walking Loop into the locker room with his arm around him is the epitome of what a class act and genuine professional he is. Thanks for sharing, Jethro!

  2. Flores and McDaniel-dream staff!

    1. I'd love to see them bring in Flores for an interview and not let him leave until he was hired if possible. The fact that his name hasn't been mentioned yet worries me he won't get the interview. Don't think that we have a shot at Harbaugh. So then I'd look at Kubiak or McCarthey. I think we'd be thrilled if McCarthey could do here what he has done at Green Bay and even Dallas.

  3. I was listening this morning when the McDaniel news dropped! I don’t see him as a realistic possibility for this franchise, but would make splashes if they could get him on board!

  4. I am not saying we should have kept Gannon or anything like that, but you have continually criticized the fact that Gannon took an interview during SB week and broke rules. In another world, they could have conducted the interview without penalty, they just didn't do it right. Regardless of whether Monti/ JG broke the rules, should any of these playoff coaches be interviewing with the Cardinals or any other team until their team has been eliminated? Or is it different if they scheduled it properly?

    1. Scheduled properly is how it’s done and it’s not a minor mistake for any professional to break simple rules in a coaching hire. 32 teams manage to do it ethically and according to the rules. Zoom calls accommodate all coaches who are planning for upcoming games, any who dont want to interview can postpone when their season is over. Been this way for almost 2 decades. MO and JG are the only 2 in the recent nfl who couldn’t manage this and it cost the franchise a 3rd rounder. What does that tell all of us. Walt is 1000% to call them out on it.

    2. You neglected to answer my question. I’m not arguing they didn’t break the rules and were rightfully called out on that. The penalty was not a loss of a 3rd rounder, it was a swap of a 3rd rounder and 4th rounder. Nonetheless, should the coaches currently in the playoffs be focused solely on their current team and not have any interviews until their team has either been eliminated? If they do choose to interview legally, isn’t that taking away from their team just as much as when Gannon did? If not why?

    3. Re choosing to interview while planning for a big game, I wouldn’t want my coaches talking and prepping to leave for a competitor before a big game. However, beyond personal
opinion, I don’t have the answer to your question . Speculating, most coaches in that position do interviews and with the approval of their employers. If that’s negatively prepping for a playoff SB game, I imagine we’d hear about it. Have you read anything that suggested it’s a problem.l?

    4. The biggest issue with what they did was getting caught. I am guessing this sort of thing happens a lot more often then we realize. We are seeing the same sort of thing today with several teams who currently have head coaches contacting Harbaugh's representatives. Regardless, it was wrong and they shouldn't have done it.

The penalty was AZ trading their 3rd rounder (66th pick) to Philly for their 3rd rounder(94th pick) and their 2024 5th rounder(156th).

    5. Sorry 61, it wouldn’t let me to reply to you for some reason, this is for you. The reason I asked that question was because Walt didn’t just address us forfeiting draft capital, he said it was unforgivable to his team to do that interview in a previous ROTB comment. Based on his previous comments, I would assume he would not be okay with any coach interviewing prepping for a playoff push. I was looking for clarification if it was the fact they violated league guidelines (which they still could have completed within said guidelines) or if it was betraying the team with spending 2-3 hours during an interview.

  5. Enjoyed the pod cast. I am pretty well in lockstep with Sam on all the candidates, except Kubiak.

In looking at Vance Joseph, I really think his defence has really developed from what it was in AZ and in a way, I think our current roster would work well in his box and 1 scheme. He has always been good with Budda and I think Johnson can be the 1. Speed rushers in Ojulari and Browning (who was actually in his scheme) and some good pieces on the D-line. If he got the job and used his connections in Denver to land Jim Leonhard as DC and Webb as OC, I would be very encouraged.

Like Sam, I am having a hard time getting behind Saleh. In almost every metric his defence this year is worse than the Cardinals. I know Bosa and Warner is out but they have pretty much everyone else until recently. I think Ulbrich had a lot to do with the defence with the jets as well. In fairness to Saleh, this was suppose to be a reset year. And if his defence, being down more player this weekend, does the job - I will dig deeper.

If someone can show me a time before this year other than the 1st 2 games with the Saints where Kubiak has had real success, I can get behind him. Everytime he has called plays, the whole coaching staff is fired at the end of the year (Vikings, Broncos and Saints). And Walter, every reason you gave for not likely Nagy is exactly what Dan Viens said to you about Kubiak when you did the pod with him earlier this year. He actually said his media sessions was like watching paint dry. A lot of underlying offensive metrics for his offence is middle of the pack or worse. His run game this year is continue to run into an 8 man box because he has 2 studs at RB. That's great when you have the guys but what about when you don't have the guys? His history says a lot of losing. And why did Shannahan make his younger brother the OC and let him out of the building?

    You had mentioned Michael Wilson during the pod and what a full year with JB would look like. Here it is;

Wilson 17 game total with JB (12 game sample)
    99rec, 1351yds, 8tds
17 games with JB and no MHJ (5 game sample)
    156rec, 2033tds, 13tds

McBride 17 game total with JB (12 game sample)
    137rec, 1365yds, 14tds

    JB's 17 game total (12 game sample)
    4768yds, 32tds and 11ints
    Drake Maye (MVP candidate)
    4394yds, 31tds and 8ints
    Matt Stafford (MVP candidate)
    4707yrds, 46tds and 8ints

With a full off season, new offensive staff and a quality run game, could JB be more than a bridge and actually be 'THE GUY'??!
