The Positives:

* Elevates both the Cardinals running and passing games.

* House call threat every time he touches the ball.

* Outstanding package of size, speed, lunch pail toughness, wiggle, cannonball burst, tackle breaking, balance, hands, smooth route running, pass blocking.

* Exudes charismatic leadership, teamwork and maturity

`* He takes the pressure off Marvin Harrison Jr.

* Rare, breathtaking footwork.

The Questions:

* When will the GM ever get serious about building a competent defense?

* Is it already a given that this is Nick Rallis final year with the Cardinals? And if that's the case, shouldn't the GM leave with him?

* Does the GM even trust Rallis with proper regard to positioning and developing the young draft talent?

* Is it now safe to conclude that teams do not want to make 1st round trades with Monti, as expected after his indiscretions in 2023?

* Did the Cardinals' heavily reported interest in Ty Simpson inspire the Rams to take him earlier than anyone expected at pick #13? Isn't Simpson exactly why McVay hired Kliff as QB whisperer, on Bidwill's $7.M salary? What will be the next episode be of the current cat and mouse show between the Cardinals and Rams?

Monti on why the Cardinals were willing to overlook positional scarcity to draft Love: "With every decision that we make in the draft, we take the best player that we think is available when we pick. And we did that tonight. That'll always be the case as long as I'm here."

Comments

  1. Hilarious that Bidwill is paying for the coaching for T. Simpson. I doubt McVay is worried about the Cardinals. If you’re John Lynch, do you take DT McDonald from OSU or TJ Parker at DE.

  2. 1. Was Love a Monti pick or a Bidwill pick. That is my question. I believed that this team needed to build their defense in this draft to compete in the NFC West. Since Love can potentially be a starting top 5 RB for the next 5 to 8 seasons, I don't hate the pick but drafting like a 10-year-old is not the way to build a contender.

    2. If this team can attract a DC with any credentials, then I bet this is Rallises last season in AZ but that's a big IF. If this team can win 8+ games this season, Monti's job is safe IMO because finding a good "YES MAN" for an owner with a reputation like MB is not an easy task.

    3. No, I don't think MO completely trusts Rallis but beggars can't be choosy. This team is a bottom feeder when it comes to quality coaching choices. Rallis is the best option MO has right now.

    4. I bet that MB instructed MO to pick Love if he dropped to #3 so a trade was only an option if the Jets took him.

    5. I think McVay is already thinking about life after the Rams which could be as soon as after Stafford retires. Wouldn't that be crazy if Stafford retires after this season, McVay decides to move on and Kingsbury is made HC.

  3. Jethro I think your "prediction" about McVey, Stafford is spot on. McVey will go to the broadcast booth and Stafford will retire after winning the SB this season. McVey's retirement from the NFCW will be the most positive thing to happen to the Cards and their future-maybe more impactful than anything the Cards do on their own.
Regarding drafting J Love-He represents both the excitement of the present and a tantalizing preview of what's to come, bridging the gap until the franchise lands its coveted top quarterback in next year's draft. His play will carry the intrigue and energy this fan base craves this coming season and the future. He was the only pick this franchise can't screw up. Further, his presence and drafting our QBoF next season will put more pressure on this franchise to finally improve its OL from mediocre to elite.

    1. I can wrap my head around drafting Love at #3. I think this team is going to be severely lopsided this season, with a top 10 offense and a bottom 10 defense but a solid running and passing game for years to come should help next year's QOTF selection. This team has a long history of subpar OL's and the one common denominator to all those lines is ownership.
