By Walter Mitchell Talk about a player who is fired up about his teammates, new coaches and the Arizona community, Paris Johnson Jr., in his interview with Bo Brack and Johnny Venerable on the PHNX Cardinals Podcast, lit the match to a blowtorch of jalapeno-hot takes about the 2026 Arizona Cardinals. Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQLYNPP8POM&t=4704s The first order of business was to promote PJJ's charity "Putts for a Purpose" which took place last weekend, with the purpose being to raise enough money to build houses for military veterans and students who require financial aid. Paris is working in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity and hand in hand with Kurt Warner who has generously offered to furnish the first house upon its completion. When it came to talk about his boys, Paris Johnson Jr. was ecstatic about having the chance to elaborate in fine detail about the considerable talent the Cardinals have been building on offense. He's psyched t...
My thoughts/opinion (what I believe - no facts just observing and forming opinion based on the optics):
ReplyDelete(1) Bidwill/Ossenfort already decided fate of Murray after game 5 of 2025, and thus the fate of Brissett for 2025.
(2) Brissett made his request early on (pre-draft) for a pay raise for 2026.
(3) They knew about Brissett's request, and decided to look for another alternative (thus signing of Minshew and draft of Beck, and attempts to get Jimmy G, etc. etc.)
(4) Bidwill is playing hardball with Brissett (believing he has more leverage with player/agent than an agent like Burkhardt)
(5) Bidwill is not interested in winning, I believe Defense looked so bad was a indication Cardinals were intentionally tanking 2025 to get their new QB {see point 2} in 2026, but the QB's they thought would be available, chose to not be participant in draft.
(6) Bidwill has already decided they will be tanking this season too , since it didn't work this year, double down and select Arch Manning in draft next year (never-you-mind Mannings would never associate themselves with Bidwill).
(7) Cardinals will seek to trade Brissett once training camp starts because Brissett will refuse to play as starter for 1.5G money after beating he took last year behind our OL (That is about his career longevity as he may get season/career ending injury playing for Cardinals as starter if things go down same as last year.)

I knew there was something I left out... Media...
DeletePhx Media outlets are afraid Bidwill will keep them from covering the AZ Cardinals (e.g. Jess Root) and having any access to Cardinals facilities and media events. Thus they placate the owner and kiss his butt and sing the tune that Bidwill (and his PR dept) wish the narrative to be...This would never fly in Pittsburg, Philly, Buffalo, etc... We have a weak gutless media in the 5th largest market in country - yet we rank near last in any poll taken of Cardinals with no accountability. After all it is all Brisetts fault we lost 11 games with him putting up career numbers, whilst we retained the worst Defensive Coordinator - Were was media calling out Bidwill on that call? Crickets! (sic)
Outstandings insights, Redrun! Great work!

DeleteThank you for allowing us to add and voice our opinions. I for one appreciate all the efforts you make to engage with us in topics that do not fall into the Bidwill kiss butt media outlets available to us as Cardinal fans to be honest with assessments and outlooks. Both positive and negative. I wish I was more positive but after the Wilks/Kingsbury/Gannon regimes it is difficult to stay positive (I sure miss BA). Our (fans) only hope is really in an ownership change. 80yrs...
Will we be able to actually stomach games this year under an obvious tank mandate? or will we disengage after 1st/2nd qtr like we did last year.
Thank you pal for making Red Rain a better place. We all profit from your insights.

ReplyDeleteGotta watch this- "He's been an asshole since he was 12yrs old."
DeleteAgree with McCoy that Kyler Murray has consistently frustrated his teams, coaches and believers. While I get that Kyler has been better in HS, college and 1st two years in the NFL, I think Acho is underestimating J.J. McCarthy's toughness. Big different in college was that Kyler played in a pass heavy spread and McCarthy played in a run-heavy play action scheme, which I thought he commanded very well during his run to the Natty. It's easier to pass better when you are passing most of the time. It's much harder to pass well on more limited chances. Both players' teams made the final 4. McCarthy made it to the finals and won.
DeleteBeck or Minshew or Brissett, the bottom line is that they've done Jacoby so dirty throughout the whole process
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I have lots of respect for Jacoby and his decision to represent himself. He's a really smart guy and it feels like this team is punishing him for it.
